Scheibeler Family Fundraiser

In 2010, Tom Scheibeler was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS). He was forced into early retirement from Holy Cross, where he was Maintenance Supervisor for 18 years. After his struggles with PLS, he found a lump on his neck and it was determined to be tonsil cancer. The Scheibeler family will be holding a benefit spaghetti dinner and bake sale on Sunday, October 25th from 12-4pm in the Cafeteria. There will also be raffles and a silent auction. Join us in supporting Tom.

Holy Cross Church, located in the heart of Omaha's largest Irish community, has long been known for its rich Irish tradition. In 1986, Monsignor Edward O'Donnell instituted the annual, city-wide St. Patrick's Day Mass. The Mass has always been preceded with a sing-a-long of Irish music, led by the Holy Cross choir.

People from all around the city attended, wearing green outfits and decorated hats. It is a tradition that is in existence today, sans the head gear. Also, to reflect our Irish heritage, Holy Cross Catholic Church has transformed their annual church festival into the Holy Cross Irish Festival.
