  • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion distribute the Eucharist at Mass.

In the Archdiocese of Omaha, Catholic men and women who are high school juniors or older and have received the sacrament of Confirmation are eligible to serve as EMHCs. There is a formal process for EMHCs to be mandated by the archbishop. If you are interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, please call the Rectory at 402-553-7500.

  • Eucharistic Adoration

Our Eucharistic Chapel offers a serene and comfortable environment for your prayer and meditation needs. Our chapel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information and/or the Evening access code, contact the Rectory at 402-553-7500

  • Gifts & Greeters
    Gifts & Greeters

To serve as a greeter before Mass or to bear the gifts, please visit the vestibule of Holy Cross Church. There, you will find a binder in which you can sign up to volunteer in these capacities.

  • Lectors

To serve as a lector, volunteers must be mandated by the archbishop. If you are interested in becoming a lector, please call the Rectory at 402-553-7500.

  • Music Ministry
    Music Ministry

The Holy Cross music team is made up of two groups of dynamic and dedicated volunteers: the cantors and the choir. Cantors sing for and lead worship at 5 PM Saturday masses and 9 AM Sunday masses, either as individuals or in duos or trios. The choir sings for and leads worship at 11 AM Sunday masses and other special liturgies, such as Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Additionally, during the Christmas season, the choir travels throughout Omaha and connects with the community through caroling and concerts.

We're always looking for more singers to join the team. Choir rehearsal takes place in the church every Thursday evening from late August through May. If you're interested, please contact Cecilia Jensen at cecilia.jensen31@gmail.com.

  • Sacristans

Sacristans oversee all the articles and sacred vessels used in worship and liturgical activities. This includes preparing the altar, lectionary, and vestments before mass. As with EMHCs and lectors, sacristans must be mandated by the archbishop. If you are interested, please call the Rectory at 402-553-7500.

  • Ushers

Mass Ushers have been serving Holy Cross parish for almost 100 years. Our Usher teams are the first persons that our Mass guests encounter and the last to leave an impression. Ushers are involved in our weekly Saturday & Sunday Masses as well as on Holy Days and those special times when Sacraments are administered. Ushers are also called upon to assist at our Mission and on St. Patrick Day Mass.

Our Ushers are men and women of all ages, and are frequently augmented by Holy Cross grade school children at their All-School Masses on Holy Days.

Our Ushers are responsible for providing assistance into the building, for directing guests to various facilities, for handing out bulletins and for helping in any medical emergencies, and as directed by the Celebrant.

If you are interested in serving with our Usher team, please contact Dan Maher at djm54@cox.net, or at (402) 990-7518.
