Doug and Maribeth Grieser

Celtic Cross 2023 Recipients Honored

Doug and Maribeth started their life together at Holy Cross with their wedding at the Church on September 26, 1981. Maribeth is a life-long member of Holy Cross Parish and Doug and Maribeth have three children: Adam, Eric and Kate who attended Holy Cross School. Adam and Jordan have two children - Charlie and George. And Kate and Jacob have three girls - Mia, Ellie and Lily. Four of Doug and Maribeth’s grandchildren attend Holy Cross School with the fifth grandchild not far behind. Their grandchildren represent the third generation to attend Holy Cross School and the fifth generation to be members of Holy Cross Parish.

Maribeth’s Grandpa, John Parr, was a maintenance worker for the parish and school and her mom and dad, Jack & Mary Parr, were also active members of the Parish and were involved in Christian Family Movement and serving on the Church Decorating Committee. Maribeth’s dad was also in the Choir and a    cantor at Masses for over 50 years.

Doug and Maribeth have served many roles at Holy Cross - Cub Scout Leader, boys soccer coach, girls’ soccer, softball & basketball coaches, Home & School officer, Religious Education teacher and co-chairs of the Gala and the Festival.  Maribeth headed up the Festival Bank and they served on the Stewardship Committee. Doug has served on the Parish Council and the Finance Committee and was a Parish Trustee for two Pastors. He continues to serve on the   Maintenance and Church Decorating Committees where he has been involved in various projects for the Church and School, such as: installing water        fountains at the school; helping with renovation of the Church confessionals; renovating the sitting room at the Rectory; changing the light bulbs in the Church ceiling; helping to install wiring in the Church steeple just to name a few. Doug is a lector and EMHC and all-around handyman for the Parish.

Maribeth was the Parish Financial Director for ten years, has been a member of the Choir for over 25 years, a cantor for around 20 years and is still helping with the Gala, including this one!! Maribeth has also done the occasional sewing  project for the Parish and assisted Doug with some of the maintenance projects.

Doug and Maribeth want to express their humble and sincere gratitude to the Pastors they have served and the Parish family who have made them feel truly part of the Community of Holy Cross.

Please join us in congratulating and thanking Doug and Maribeth Grieser for their past, present (and future accomplishments) and dedication to our beloved Holy Cross!
